Rajasthan CM Gehlot sanctions 2 Lakh for A K Hangal

Moved by the plight of nonagenarian Hindi film actor A K Hangal, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today sanctioned a financial assistance of Rs 200,000 to help him foot his medical bills. The assistance will be given from the state welfare fund for litterateur and journalists, an official press release said. The decision to provide the assistance was taken following media reports about how the 95-year-old ator was finding it difficult to pay for his food and medical expenses. His photographer son, who is now a septuagenarian, also finds it difficult to help his father, the reports said.
A K Hangal got close to Rs. 4.82 lakh from people within the film fraternity as well as outside. The process began when ToI, the daily reported that Hangal was living in very poor financial condition and is in need of help. People who showed their support by giving money included big names from the industry like Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Arbaaz Khan.
