Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor passes away

Elizabeth Taylor, one of the greatest actresses of Hollywood’s golden age, passed away today. She was 79. Taylor was suffering from heart problems and other old age related health issues lately. On Tuesday morning she died at Cedars-Sinai medical centre in Los Angeles from congestive heart failure, according to her spokeswoman Sally Morrison. “She was surrounded by her children: Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd, and Maria Burton,” Sally Morrison said in a statement.
One of the cine legends of Hollywood, Taylor acted in her first motion picture (in 1942) at the age of 9. She was already a star in her adolescent years. In 1960, Taylor became the highest paid actress up to that time when she signed a one million dollar contract to play the title role in 20th Century Fox's lavish production of Cleopatra. During her long and illustrious acting career she won two Oscars. The first one came for the 1960s’ film BUtterfield 8. She won her second Oscar for the 1966 drama Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf.
