Shashi Kapoor get Padma Bhushan Award

Actor Shashi Kapoor conferred the Padma awards 2011. President Pratibha Patil gave away the awards at a function at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on Friday which was attended by Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, several union ministers and a host of dignitaries.
Rishi Kapoor is thrilled that his uncle Shashi Kapoor will be receiving the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award, but says he would have been happier to see Shammi Kapoor's name on the list as well. Rishi's grandfather, the legendary actor Prithviraj Kapoor was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1969, after which his father Raj Kapoor received the honour in 1971. "This is the first time since then that the government has recognised the presence of the Kapoors in the entertainment industry. What a feeling, all the senior Kapoors, my grandfather Prithiviraj, my father Raj and now Shashi Kapoor are Padma Bhushans!" said Rishi. Shashi, 72, was recently admitted to hospital due to health problems, but he is back home and gradually recovering, says Rishi.
